Hide Mode: Here, the player to the dealer's right selects a card and places it face down on the table. This card becomes the trump suit for the round.

Cut Mode: In this mode, play starts without a chosen trump suit. If a player cannot follow suit, the card they play becomes the trump for the deal.

Once a trump suit is established, the highest card of that suit wins the trick. If no trump is played, the highest card of the led suit takes the trick. The trick winner leads the next card, and each captured trick is placed in a face-down pile by the winner.

A partnership that captures three or four of the Tens wins the hand. Capturing all four Tens is known as Mendicot, a significant achievement in the game.
