Thunee, named after the Tamil word for water, is a beloved trick-taking card game that originated in Durban, South Africa. Drawing inspiration from the Indian and Sri Lankan game 304, Thunee offers both Single Player and Multiplayer modes, ensuring an unparalleled gaming experience that closely simulates the real-life version of the game. To enjoy the best gaming experience and to upload or update your scores, an online connection is essential.

In Multiplayer mode, you have the flexibility to invite a friend to be your partner or challenge them to a game. Invitations are easily sent via push notifications or WhatsApp messages. The results and statistics of games played with friends are meticulously stored and displayed on the statistics page, allowing you to brag about who's the best player in your social circle.

For beginners, the Easy difficulty setting provides helpful assistance and in-game narration to facilitate learning. The app is highly customizable through the settings/options menu, allowing you to tailor the game to your preferred style of play. You can adjust various options, such as:

  • Choosing between Hard, Medium, or Easy difficulty levels.
  • Opting for score assistance on Medium and Easy settings, which provides real-time trick/hand values and scores.
  • Setting when to be prompted to bid—either all the time or only when holding three or more cards of the same suit or a J9.
  • Enabling early win or loss declarations if the required score threshold is exceeded (this feature is on by default).
  • Allowing early victory claims, including Double and Khanuck claims.
  • Adjusting the duration to clear a trick (hand), with the option to click and clear the trick earlier than the set time (default is 1 second).
  • Including vocal sounds for bidding and calling Jodhi, among others.
  • Customizing the game's appearance by changing the background (or selecting your own color with a vignette effect) and switching card packs.
  • Choosing to include Royals, where the value of cards is reversed (e.g., Queens become Jacks, Kings become Nines, etc.).
