Following the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, it's clear that the partnership between Nintendo and Xbox is set to continue and grow. Microsoft's head of gaming, Phil Spencer, recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Switch platform, emphasizing its role in reaching players who are not typically on Xbox or PC.

In an interview with Variety, Spencer addressed whether he had specific projects planned for the Nintendo Switch 2. He stated that just as Xbox has been supporting the original Switch, they are eager to extend that support to the Switch 2.

"Nintendo has been a great partner," Spencer remarked. "We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who aren’t PC players, who aren’t players on Xbox. It lets us continue to grow our community of people that care about the franchises that we have, and that’s really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games."

Spencer has consistently praised the innovation behind the Nintendo Switch 2 since its first teaser, and he has confirmed that Xbox will continue to expand its game distribution across multiple platforms, including PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo's consoles.

When asked by Variety if the Switch 2 reveal made him eager to announce Xbox's next console lineup, Spencer remained focused on the broader industry and Xbox's existing plans.

"No. I think all of us in this industry should focus on our communities and the player base that we’re building," Spencer explained. "I get inspired by what a lot of different creators do and other platform holders. But I believe in the plans that we have."

The Xbox head reiterated their strategy to deliver games across as many platforms as possible, including cloud, PC, and consoles. Titles like Pentiment and Obsidian's Grounded have already been ported to Nintendo platforms, and it will be exciting to see what Xbox has in store for the Switch 2 once it launches.
