Kadokawa Acknowledges Sony’s Interest“No Decision Has Been Made”
This official announcement follows yesterday’s report by Reuters that Sony Interactive Entertainment is striving to acquire the Japanese media powerhouse that is Kadokawa, whose offerings range from anime and manga to the video game industry. Acquisition of Kadokawa by Sony Interactive Entertainment will bring Elden Ring studio FromSoftware under their wing, alongside other notable studios such as Spike Chunsoft (Dragon Quest), and Acquire (Mario & Luigi: Brothership). With the tech giant backing them up, FromSoftware’s other PlayStation exclusive titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne might just get a revival.
If a deal is made, Sony Interactive Entertainment may also have a hand in the publishing and distribution of anime and manga in the West, with Kadokawa primarily known for being a large-scale distributor of various media.
