Star Wars Tactics Game Unveiled at 2025 Celebration
Excitement is building for fans of the Star Wars universe as EA gears up to unveil their new turn-based tactics game at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This eagerly anticipated game, developed by Bit Reactor—a studio founded by veterans of Firaxis Games, renowned for the XCOM series—has been in the works since its announcement in early 2022. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, creators of the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this project to life. The first glimpse of the game is scheduled for April 19, where a live panel featuring the lead developers from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games will take place, as confirmed by the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.
While details about the game remain scarce, including the specific Star Wars era it will explore and the precise mechanics of its gameplay, expectations are high given the pedigree of its developers. Fans can reasonably anticipate a strategic experience reminiscent of XCOM but infused with the iconic elements of the Star Wars universe.
In other news, Respawn Entertainment continues to develop the third installment of their Star Wars Jedi trilogy, though it won't be featured at this year's Star Wars Celebration. Previously, Respawn was also working on another Star Wars project, a first-person shooter rumored to spotlight a Mandalorian protagonist. Unfortunately, this project was canceled amid a significant restructuring at EA, which resulted in the loss of around 670 jobs. Additionally, earlier in March, Respawn quietly discontinued a multiplayer first-person shooter project, affecting an unspecified number of staff involved.
